'There would only be a world without fashion if there were a world without people'

Lets celebrate fashion. Let Britain hold up its hand and give this powerful industry there recognition it deserves. Let it be celebrated like the mining industry was. Lets be proud!
Some may look down on what the fashion industry is, but look past the pretty models and the £5000 bag and take a moment to realise and think about what this sector brings to Britain and lets celebrate it rather than be embarrassed to admit its success.
There will always  be those who believe that fashion is about materialism, that its for posers and that they have no involvement in such at all. This is not true, you may not read your monthly glossy to get your inspiration but you have eyes, everywhere around you is fashion. The person on the bus, the billboard you pass on your way to work, the shop windows you drive past, in your very own wardrobe! Every morning you roll out of bed and BAM! We have a thought process of what your going to wear today, the colour of your jumper for example, it was chosen, its not by chance that it sat there in the shop nicely folded for an addition to your autumn wardrobe. It came from the catwalk, a designer would have sat and thought about what they wanted, where they got there inspiration and chosen that very colour. Your jumper may not have been £500 like that initial jumper, but that colour dripped down the market, drip, drip, drip. Until there it was, neatly folded in our much loved high-street stores. This trickle down effect is a great way to access high fashion at a fraction of the price, or at least be wearing the same colour.
Britain is a leader in fashion! We have a fashion week, people should embrace it like the do the olympics, I mean fashion has been around longer, everyone takes part every day, it should be celebrated not make you fear of being stereo-typed. Even if your not a poser, or a glamour barbie doll, or a trend setter, or even a follower you should be proud of what it brings to your country.
The fashion industry keeps 815,000 in a job, it brings in over £20.9 billion to the UK economy every year, London fashion week makes £20million alone and brings in over £100million on orders. I this doesn't make you step back and think WOW, then I don't know what will.
People have been embracing fashion from as long ago as 170,000 years, since the apes started to lose there hair and would cover up with fur, although it may have started to be functional it soon changed, the cut and style, the social standing aspect, all these have to be accounted for. Fashion is a big part in the society and the world we live in today! Its should be celebrated, one day it will be celebrated!

lost..

Yes, I have forgotten about you. Well not forgotten just not stopped. My summers finished and well all I have done is worked, slept and got a little to drunk a few times. Sorry guys my abandonment is not acceptable, however now I am officially back in the city! Its time to whip ass at this blogging thing!

So lets talk about whats been happening the last few months, I have had the most fun ever with my fabulous friends Pamela and Sarah on the Steam train, although it has been hard sometimes seeing them everyday for five months the pleasure was all mine. These two are the craziest, funniest, generous, friendly people I have ever known, I hope that now am not there they wont forget me and better come visit me! (And tell me all the goss! you know what I mean!)

My big cousin Scott got married! Ahhhhh crazy, little Scott Duffy got married! The whole day was fantastic and Jodie, his beautiful wife looked amazing! I am so happy for them both and I wish them everlasting love and happiness together! :) Cheeeeeeeesy ;) gotta love it though!

I got dumped... pause for awkward moment... Yes, I lost the love of my life, the most important person in the world to me. But HEY life goes on.. Right? I live in like the most amazing city, my friend emily has moved in with me, am turning 19, going to paris in january, passed first year uni.. How could life be any better than I have it. I've cried wayyyyy to much its time to grow a pair and get a grip and partyyyy! :)

Hmmmmm I dont know what else has happened... Ohhh wait let me show you my new way. I have always been one of those people, some may call it a hoarder, but yes, I don't like to keep everything! So I pin in all up on my wall. Things that make me smile, things that motivate me, things that are memories, it makes my room feel like home. I have all the little snippets of my real home in Aviemore, all the pictures of my pretty little friends, days out we done, my ucas letter, pub golf sheet, birthday cards, to be honest a little bit of everything! :)

Pretty Little things

So my new adventure of my business is going quite well so far, sold over 10 pieces :) Mega cheesing.
Although this morning my new beautiful teal beads arrived and I realised I have run out of stringing material, pretty gutted, need to get on it asap! Maybe work on my stock control a little better.
The most difficult thing I've came across so far is getting the word out, although my friends and family know about the bracelets its getting to people further, you know, to order through my website! www.pretty-littlethings.co.uk I've set up my very own business pay-pal account! I know, very official right?  I like pay-pal because its convenient, its easy for everyone. It means the buyer doesn't have to give me any of there bank details and it means the buyer doesn't have to write them all down again and again :) I love pay-pal!
I hope everyone likes my new bracelets but if you have any ideas please let me know. Any colours you would like to see?

My first fashion haul!

So tonight I made my first Fashion Haul! I love watching these videos on youtube and have done for a very long time now. They are really good if you don't find the person to annoying, please tell me if you find me annoying! Or not actually you might hurt my feelings. Anyway, the reason I love them is because they can inspire you make you look at a garment in a different way, everybody has different opinions and style when it comes to fashion and I dont expect everyone to agree with me. I only hope that by watching you may take away something, even if it is where the SALE is!

Enjoy.. Please tell me what you think. Do you agree with High-street pricing?

Scottish is..

Scottish is the first to laugh,
its the last to fall, the first to get back up,
Scottish is iron will,
it's irn-bru,
it's aye, not yes,
Scottish is walking 500 miles, then,
500 more,
it's making friends no matter who, or where or when,
Scottish is the highest mountains
Scottish is not english
it's salt and vinegar
or salt and sauce,
Scottish is primal and it's slam and it's Paolo's and it's Franz's and it's Calvin's and it's Biffy,
Scottish is good fighters,
and even better lovers,
Scottish is cheering 3-0 up,
and even louder 0-3 down,
Its the cities and the coast
scottish is the best banter
Scottish is your Kenny, McLiesh, Fletcher, Gemell, McCoist, Burns and Sir Alex,
Scottish is pride in your clan,
scottish is that atmosphere,
Scottish is your barrowlands, and it's king tuts, and it's hamden, and its murryfield,
it's being blind to the cold and the wind and the rain,
its the most beautiful place on the planet,
Scottish is snow in june,
Scottish is deep fried,
it's hardcore,
Scottish is partying through the rain,
Scottish its the highlands and islands,
It's a dialect in every town,
Scottish is bonnie lassies with fire and ice in there blood,
Scottish is getting together,
it's the army of tartan
Scottish is the loudest crowd
it's knowing when your home,
Scottish is T in the Park!
Scottish is.

Its moments like these when I am proud to be scottish! :)
Thought I would share this with you as I think it is just amazing, certain to put a smile on your face!

My new Little adventure..

My new Business! Pretty Little Things :)

I am really excited about my new little adventure, it all came about when I was really bored on my day off, I tried to think of things to do and well came up with this. No, I do not expect to become a millionaire but I thought why not, I believe I kind of have some knowledge about business and how they work and also consider myself a little creative. Seen as I can't really make any clothes at the moment I thought I would start with jewellery! So beads, fixings and elastic in the post, website up and well kind of running except I haven't made any products to sell yet, but you can drop by have a wee preview if you like, seen as your my little followers ;) www.pretty-littlethings.co.uk But shhhhhh don't tell anyone till Its ready to go, till I've made a few items and am ready to become a millionaire, (am joking). Although it would be nice..

Tell me what you think of my logo? Any better ideas? Was going for a simple black and white image, straight to the point, no messing about!

Today I miss the city..

You see, the thing about days off is well there boring when you have no money, its raining and everybody else is working! However in the city these issues don't really effect your day, well apart from the rain but hey that doesn't really stop me!

So today as I still lie in bed, (although I have been up) I take refuge from just watching tv all days. I've tried to take part in many activities such as drawing, (epic fail, as it makes me realise how rubbish I am, which goes on to stress me out about life, which we'll leave for another day I think.) Watching a film - lost patience,  eat - felt fat, (fatter to stay politically correct). Its just been a waste of a day.

So as I've taken refuge to re-inventing my blog, with a little spring clean and a ploy for new followers. Am going to tell you about a little day I had in Glasgow which makes me smile, especially on days like today when I would have taken to exploring when left with nothing else to do.

Beautiful flats in the west end! Hopefully I'll live there one day!

I had set my alarm on the idea that I would be touring the west end the following day, embarrassingly I had never been to the west of Glasgow, shocking I know but for you that don't. The west is the nice bit, all cities have a West, all vintage and amazing charity shops and well the nicest coffee and food, so right up my street :) Instead of boring you with text and going to show you through my finest photography, keep you interested right?

I love Vintage shop windows. Everything is so pretty! Most say no photos please but I did my sly camera trick ;) although pretty hard to hide an Iphone!

The thing about Vintage that I love the most is the story behind every item, some turn there nose up at the idea that somebody has wore it before but frankly I think its endearing, its had a life, its been worn through good times and bad, somebody was promoted wearing that shirt, proposed too in that dress. Certainly makes me smile :) Although somebody could have died in that jumper, yikes!! Ruined that moment of poeticness ;)

Some sheds, I don't know why but I found them interesting and inspiring. Pretty little picture!

The famous Ashton Lane of Byers road.. I looked like a right tourist taking this picture but I love the sign how its old and a little worn, the lane also has those wonderful cobble floor, a nightmare in heels but it always makes me image the olden days when there were horses and carts and markets.
I liked this picture because I reminded me of paris, with the red chairs and the big signs.
A bigger idea of how the lane looks :)

Just a country girl stuck in the big bad city! Shopping bags at hand and coffee to pass the day!

How do you spend your days off?

Why Blog?

Hmmm I guess some of you wonder why I blog, why waste my time sitting up till 1 in the morning typing away about things that well, frankly nobody really cares about. Well one day, with fingers tightly crossed I want to work for a magazine, hopefully somewhere fabulous like Vogue or Cosmopolitan :) Both very different of-course, Vogue well pretty fancy and very hardcore Fashion, where as 'Cosmo' more easy on the eye, slight humour, more for my kind of girl to be honest.

But writing is important none the less, I need a portfolio or work, and although, at the moment my style is pretty amateur I hope one day that someday somebody will see something in me and want to hire me. A girl can dream right? So with the support of all my lovely little followers and those who may decide to follow you will all help me get my dream! :)

Please take a moment to follow me and vote in my new poll.. I really want to know what you want me to write about :)

Always cheer me up :)

There are two special people in my life that always cheer me up! Or well make me think. These people are thee amazing Paolo Nutini and Adele! <3

I seen Paolo, (yes, I shall refer to him as Paolo because we are close! Well I like to believe that we would be if we ever met.) for the second time this year at Rockness, the first at T in the Park last year where it confirmed my liking of the man, but this year he blew me away! Although maybe a tad wasted, his voice gives me the shivers, its like nothing I've ever heard before! His stage presence, his appearance (the swanky new, 'am too cool for pop' hair doo, loving it, yes I may fancy him!) everything about him puts a big joker smile on me anytime! I have a little video from Rockness that I will share with you, only because you are my favourite little followers. :) I hope he makes you smile the way he does to me, enjoy my finest filming moment!

I'll also include one from some actual professional, or well somebody better than me!

Adele <3 my sweet little lady! Awww how I fell in love with this women years ago, 19 blew me away. There isn't really words that can explain my love for 21! Every song is just perfection! I had never before felt something from a song like Adele makes you feel, I remember when she preformed at the Brits with 'Someone like you' I had heard it before but her performance was epic, (strange word to use but I feel it fits well, in my opinion it was out of this world AMAZING!) Her braveness and to have the power to appear on stage with just a piano is something in its self, she doesn't need to razzle and dazzle of dancers and fireworks and half naked men to make her performance she does it solely on talent and fine lyrics! I hope that by now and after all this ranting you have come to the conclusion that I adore Adele! I love her, I just love her. And well if anybody wants to purchase there favourite blogger a ticket to see her, that would be lovely! Mucho appreciated.

Happy Reading my little followers! :)

Rockness 2011

Me and Chelsea.. Posing of course!

Bit late but ohhh well...

So friday morning, rather hectic and well I wasn't finished packing as usual! Sophie arrives to pick me up at 8 in the morning, yes 8! Anyway in her 3 door Peugeot 307, Amy and Ellen are buried in the back and Steph slightly squished in the front, at this point all that is running through my head is, 'where the heck is all my stuff going to go?' Well let me show you-

Here we are, all squished in! Me with one wellie on either side of Sophie as she drives up the A9 heading to ROCKNESS! I must be honest with you my legs were rather sore as we descended out of the car! But we enjoyed the journey none the less, Steph with drink in hand, Sophie with pre-rolled fags and Amy attempting to apply make-up!

Me and my beloved besto Sophie! :)
Once we arrived, It was time to pitch up :) I don't mind putting up tents, honestly I don't, in-fact I use it as an excuse to make some money. ;) Last year some random caught on to my smart idea (yes, smart) anyway he calls over, 'I'll gee ya a tenner if you put ma tent up?' Of-course I complied. So I unzipped the tent and well, you'll never guess, it popped up! I could not believe my luck, so the guy paid up and I was quite happy with my hard work! Once the campsite was erected along with our loyal gazebo, which weights a tonne, also lucky for me I've never had the pleasure of carrying it, but I hear its very heavy! The weekend of fun filled banter begun!
My little sister as she topples down hill :)
Sophie and Ellen, classy birds just chillin
at the loo's! Clean its friday!
Rather than write all the goings on of the weekend I've decided I am going to display all our fun through a little photo museum! Yes, it has such status in the world to be named a museum!

Me and Amy, PROFILE PIC! :)
Me and Ellen, dancing to example :AMAZING! :)

My beautiful little sister Chelsea
at her first festival. Also Rockness
is one of the most beautiful places in the world!
Chelsea trying on crazy wigs :) was so funny, negotiating with
the sellers, £4 yeah? Eh no!
Dinner for two? Pizza and Thai red curry! Yummy :)

Personal hairdresser
on site! Amy
 good for
 something!

Another one bites the dust! Camping on a hill..
 hmmm? Funny though!

Rebecca and Sophie shielding from the
rain at example!
The ferris wheel! Lovely!

Me and Amy on our sunday toilet trip!
Sophie and Amy, Looking lovely as usual! :)
Steph looking just a tad rough!
Famous 5. Sunday asking a random to take a picture but making him promise not to steal my camera!
PAOLO NUTINI! Enough said!
And the weekend is over! Fireworks just finish the weekend off perfectly :)

Being home :)

Ahhh.. As we know I am home for the summer, and as great as I expected it to be its much more!
So I'll give you a short, brief and well straight to the point over view of where and what am doing with myself.
Living at home again with Mum and Chelsea :) (although in the tiny little room upstairs as Chelsea stole mine when I moved away, pretty gutted to be honest). The thing I love most about being home is that everyone is here, all my besto's, there is always somebody available to do something, which I miss a lot when in Glasgow.
I have a new job on the steam train! CHOO CHOO! Loving life, yes. Where I work with Pamela and Sarah well lets just say there something else, lots of fun and just a tad wild. But I love them non the less - well... I am a little wacky myself!
Trying to save to pay off my overdraft but not really working, I imagined life at home would save my pennies as well am not tempted by such pleasures as Starbucks ( venti, skinny, triple shot, 3 pump sugar free hazelnut latte)(with a straw may I add), shops around every corner, takeaways! Well sadly Aviemore offers such guilty pleasures, amazing coffee from Caffe Bleu, ONLINE shopping and chinese, (also as an after thought Aviemore chinese is the best chinese in the world, maybe a little over priced compared to what am used to but good, very good food!). So to put it pretty blatantly am not saving! END OF! Hmmm something must be done, however I have been watching such videos on youtube, which some of you may laugh but I feel the advice is alright, how to stop spending and save money. I'll link you whether you want to laugh at me for giving in to such nonsense or well your like me you NEED to stop spending and save money!  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-TfJ_pPdts
This guy is a total douche! haha :)
I also attended Rockness this year for my 4th time :) Its pretty much my holiday, highlight and greatest weekend of my year. My next blog with be about all the laughs and disasters that happened over the weekend.

My abandonment.

Firstly, lets get my complete embarrassment out of the way. I have abandoned my readers, yes all seven of you. I have a terrible habit of agreeing to do something, then forgetting about it. Especially when I enjoy blogging so much, I feel so horrible and to be honest just god damn LAZY!

Anyway I am back fighting and furious with of-course lots to say :)
Ohhh wait till you here all the fun and crazy ideas I've been having.

Ohh my how time flys!!

Cannot believe that tomorrow is my last day of first year! Where has the time gone? Basically in second year, be finished in no time at all! Hmm scary, I'll have to face the real world. For a while I believed that leaving home, having a flat and paying bills means your in the real world: but its not really. The 'real world' scares me!
Its got me thinking that am going to have to make my mind up about what I want to do? Like for the rest of my life? What job am going to go to everyday till am like 65, ( thats an awful thought, having to work till your 65)! So my idea at the moment is to be a fashion journalist, then make my way up to Meryl Streep in Devil Wears Prada!  Is it slightly sad that I aspire to a film, that the whole film inspired me to study fashion at university? Well you have to be inspired somehow I guess. With my new mac though I do feel all Carrie Bradshaw, you know the episode when her laptop breaks and she goes all psycho at Adain, well I wanna be like that. Be so in love with my work, so protective, I want to love what I do!

The important things- and a little about me! :)

So I haven't really told you much about who I am. Well am alishya, 18 and study Fashion Business at Glasgow Caledonian University. Not really that intelligent but for some fluke reason and well going a little psychotic at revision time, I managed to secure my place at uni.
So I moved to Glasgow in September 2010, only being 17 and well lets just say not very house trained, ( in the sense of washing, ironing the usual domestic goddess traits not the toliet department like a pet) so moving alone to a big city was daunting! To be honest coming from the very small village of Aviemore I never thought I would miss it, I imagined that I would never look back, that life in the city would be perfect. Well its far from it, I do miss Aviemore and I miss the people.
So bringing me on to the title of todays blog, 'The important things.' After my 7 months of city life and being snatched away from my family and friends, (snatched being a little over exaggerated) I realise that they are the important things in life.
Of course there is my Mum and little sister Chelsea, these two characters bigger than life, who I never imagined I would miss this much, those stupid arguements about not doing the dishes and wearing her clothes, I miss those! But on the bright side, this separation that has been strange on all of us has made us much more closer than ever before, and frankly I cant wait to move home for the summer so we can bond, argue and well probably be pulling each others hair out!
I have the most wonderful friends in the WORLD! I dont care if you the reader think yours are better because theyre not! (Rather violent but am trying to make a point!) I always thought that going to university you would meet loads of new people and make lots of friends instantly, and it would be amazing, like they make it look in the perspectus. Not that I havent got a fabulous group of people on my course that are the funniest, most interesting, some a little strange people I can be thankful to be sharing the next 4 years with; but well its just not the same. I remember the most difficult bit for me was nobody laughing at me when I fell or did that lisp thing by acciedent which I know at home they would be ripping the piss for hours, I wanted people to take the mick out of me. Some of you probably think its a strange thing to miss but to me it wasn't. I miss the gereral chat about nothing, and always having somebody to do something with, even if it was walking down the street or meeting for a fag! I love my friends always, and what I've learnt is well they're not replacable, you may go on to make new friends but the ones you hold closest do your heart will never be recycled. ;)
AHHHH did i mention am moving home for 5 months in 6 DAYS!!
Your friends and family are the people that make life happy, that make you smile and dry your tears. Its them that you can always rely on to be there when you need them always ready to pick you up when you fall. Some may not appreciate them, well I can truthfully say that I didn't not until you dont have them by your side and thats when it falls in to place whats really important!

With Love
Alishya.

j'aime la vendange

 Yes, I do love vintage!

Monday and its my day off, I have only been to the west end of Glasgow once, which wasn't really a visit I walked through it on a sponsored walk so doesn't really count! Anyway, my Monday was hitting the vintage shops, and the west end being famous for its rows of vintage, and of-course Byres road! So arriving at the tube station at Buchanan street I was on a mission, SHOP VINTAGE! Buying and all day ticket for £3.50 didn't seem that steep considering you can jump on and off as you please all day, so stepping of at Hillhead I must admit I was a little anxious because I had no idea where I was going, but i turned left anyway. So ended up walking to great western road where I came across two vintage shops, you know its vintage by the smell, slightly overpowering but there is something magical about it. I love everything about something being vintage, its strange that someone else has worn it but its amazing to think that somebody has made memories in a garment, and that its being passed on to somebody else to hopefully do the same; passed on is maybe the wrong term because your buying it, hmm pause for thought! So I had done a little research into vintage shopping, and thought I would share some of my tips with you-
Loved this Blazer was Lush, just too much pennies. :(
1. Always check the quality of the garment such as pulled threads and the lining, sometimes these things cannot be fixed.
2. If buttons are missing, don't let that put you off they can be replaced easily, its even a good excuse to make it your own.
3. Don't go by the sizes, Marilyn Munroe was a size 12 back in the day but would be a size 8 today, so always, always try on!
4. Don't let the smell put you off, you can wash it when you get home.
Love this shot! So pretty.. Getting all photographer on yer ass!!
5. Be aware that because your buying old they will have to be properly looked after, such as dry cleaning fragile fabrics, and storing leather correctly.
If my hints and tips haven't put you off, Vintage shopping is a lot of fun! Scouring through the rails of all this unfamiliar is a great experience, personally I prefer to shop alone, much more peaceful and you can go at your own pace.
After many hours of trailing through vintage stores, I only bought a scarf! Yes a scarf, which cost £4 but it is so nice, got little toy soldiers on so cute! However its from tie rack so not really that exciting, but its from the 80's an well that's definitely vintage in my eyes. ;)
Happy Vintage shopping!

j'aime du café

Yes, I do love coffee!
After nearly 8 months of living in Glasgow I had yet to really explore the city, i mean of-course I had done the obvious Buchanan street and Sauchiehall street and those of such like: but I hadn't really ventured out! So I had sunday and monday off so I planned to do some serious exploring!
Sunday, I set my alarm for 11:00am, (quite early for a sunday) and left the flat for around 12, I was on a hunt for the nicest coffee in Glasgow. I am a little obsessed when it comes to coffee, I adore it, and cant truly express my love for the stuff! So as recommended by my big cousin Daniel I set off for Tinkerbox on Ingram street. So as I casually strolled down this pavement, I had total peace of mind, it was a side to Glasgow I had never seen, still city but quiet and everybody I passed seemed quite. The buildings were glorious, I want a flat there! Anyway I found this place that was raved about and well I was pleasantly surprised, the staff very pleasant and well that smell of fine coffee was in the air, instant hit! So I ordered my usual of a large hazelnut latte, (skipped the skinny milk because it was a sunday and well its just not right) and of-course a cake, being a sunday and all it would be rude not too. So I ordered a croissant, without sounding to well stupid, you can tell a lot about a place by the standard of there croissant, stale means they don't really care, soft and crispy on the outside well its just perfection. Well mine was to die for, slightly warmed obviously and a slap of butter, well lets just say it was something else. So as advised I took my coffee and pastry outside, sat in the glorious sunshine and enjoyed a cigarette and my new book. It was just peace, quiet and delicious coffee! You must go!

Something thats certain to make me smile

Around two years ago I purchased one of my most prized posessions. A book. Yes, a book. 'The goddess guide', by Gisele Scanlon, my first attraction to it was the beautiful front cover. It is black and gold with the most magical pattern, as I flicked through the pages of colours and pictures I knew it was going to be interesting.
So whats the book about? Well I dont want to give to much away because I want everyone to go buy it and enjoy it, because I know anyone who has an interest in Fashion, travel, food and life will. The author travels the world letting you in on tips and hot spots, from anything to wear to buy the best tights to how to pack for a festival. She also does exclusive interviews with designers such as Christian Louboutin to Dolce and Gabbana!
The thing I love most about her book is that it makes you dream, it makes you want to go places, experiance buying your first red soled shoe, wearing you first Phillip Treacy, eating the finest food in France and sipping cocktails in New York!
So today while scouring Urban Outfitters, (favourite shop right now, AMAZING) I spotted that front cover I fell in love with all that time ago, but this time flurecent pink and black! Its the secound edition, I just couldn't wait to get home and get tucked in to the most amazing book! I litrally could not wait I started reading it on the bus home.
Such a good read and investment piece, its something I will always treasure, something I'll whip out when am going to Paris to get all the best places. For £10.00 you cannot complain if it has the ability to make you dream time and time again then its worth it.
Till next time
Alishya :)
xx
p.s I actually dont go shopping all the time, its emm research for my course. ;)

My complete disappointment!

As I strolled down Buchanan street today you can imagine the rush of excitement when I saw those massive hot pink signs in the window of Topshop, you know what they said, 'SALE.' Now that you cannot resist, even on a tight budget you just cant say no to even a little look.
So as I browsed the rails, that were somewhat miss-matched, I wasn't to impressed. Somethings stood out, but I knew if I wait another week I can come back and get it cheaper, (yes, I am a master at sale shopping). So as a wandered around the shop, taking special note to check out their lipsticks as they had been highly recommended earlier by a friend, I came across the most shocking garments I have ever seen produced by Topshop.
These items were something you expect to come across round a back street on a cheap rail out on the pavement. As I tried to take picture evidence without the shop assistance seeing, just so you would believe me, I must say it must have looked rather strange. So hanging next to lush lace blouses and flare trousers were these T-shirts, one being bright pink with large text across the whole front saying, 'LOL'. Yes, 'LOL', I couldn't quite believe it, and around the corner was another one, simple cut white T-shirt with, wait for it, it gets worse, 'BFF'!
I mean am all up for print T-shirts but really? Especially from Topshop, as a fashion student I am constantly browsing these high street shops to make sure I am constantly aware of whats changing around me, but this was heartbreaking. I aspire to this brand, I believe it brings edge, style and a slight luxury to the high street, and to come across such tacky garments left me somewhat disappointed!
Follow me on twitter at alishyamcstay . I have posted the evidence of these horrendous designs!
Until next time. :)

The problem with maxi dresses

So as you can probably gather from the title of this blog is: I have a problem with maxi dresses! Not that they are not fabulous and look absolutely gorgeous on the right person, well thats just it I am not the right person! This saddens me, because last summer I envied those girls who wore them, looking all bohemian and chic but I just couldn't bring myself to wear one, (not that I am a 'woose' when it comes to fashion, actually some may say I am daring).
You all know the girls am talking about, those with flowing long hair that carries a slight wave, that natural (sometimes) healthy grow and that overall exotic look. I have a friend who just looks amazing in a maxi dress, I actually refer to such garments as being very, 'Amyish' she wears it with such grace and beauty, I truly am jealous! But she is one of those girls!
Well, unfortunately for me I am not one of those girls, being very white, (emphasise on the white), natural red head meaning I have freckles, and short hair: MAXI DRESSES JUST DO NOT WORK!
So I begin to question my original title, is it the maxi dress my problem lies with or 'those girls'? Am I just jealous or do you have to look a certain way to pull a certain look off?
I hope one day I can find the maxi dress for me.
